CHENNAI: The national selectors picked four pace bowlers but not one specialist spinner in the India 'A' squad scheduled to play England in the opening three-day tour game at the Brabourne Stadium, next Monday.
Yuvraj Singh, who marked his return to first-class cricket with a double hundred a fortnight ago, figures in the 14-man squad led by
Suresh Raina.
England will play two other tour games before the four-Test series starting next month that is billed as a 'revenge series' for the hosts following their whitewash during their visit last year.
Ashok Dinda,
Irfan Pathan,
Parvinder Awana and
Vinay Kumar are the four pacers in the squad that features nine specialist batsmen also including
Ajinkya Rahane and
Manoj Tiwary.
Rohit Sharma was left out while opener
Murali Vijay and
Robin Bist were picked. Opener Shikhar Dhawan figured in the original 14, but was replaced by Ambati Rayudu after making himself unavailable owing to his wedding.
